How we got here

Three companies. One acoustics brand. Same building since 2003.

KARIKA's story starts in May 2003, when Anil Kumar Goyal opened Canvas Centre at 79 JC Road — a retail showroom for the architectural finishes that designers in Bangalore were specifying but could not find in one place.

In August 2008, he opened Cosmo Floors in the same building: a wholesale company supplying artificial flooring, carpets, vinyl, mats and grass to studios and contractors across South India.

In July 2010 he added Gowell Multi Trade Private Limited — a corporate interiors company supplying carpets, wallpapers and flooring for office, hospitality and institutional projects.

By 2013, the practice had spent ten years stocking different brands across three channels. KARIKA was founded inside Gowell that year as something different: an acoustics brand of its own. One product line, in 100% polyester felt, bringing aesthetic design to acoustics.

Over the decade since, KARIKA has supplied acoustic surfaces to more than 1,000 office, hospitality and institutional projects across India. The business is family-owned, with the second generation now in the building.

Offices made quieter with KARIKA
The practice

Sound, considered as carefully as surface.

Bangalore, India

A panel should solve acoustics without asking for an aesthetic apology.

We work with architects on workspaces, hospitality, studios, public buildings and the occasional residence. Everything is bespoke; every surface is cut, pressed or printed to a project's drawings, in any of our exclusive colours.

Architects increasingly ask for custom acoustic design — surfaces shaped to a specific room. KARIKA was built around that shift, with industrial design at the centre of how the studio works and a small in-house design team alongside the specifying architect.

We design, specify and install under one roof. The work is to keep finding better ways to build a room.

The goal is quiet, not silence.

Material & sustainability

Made from bottles. Recyclable at end of life.

KARIKA panels are 75% post-consumer recycled PET, including ocean-bound plastic. The polyester fibre is heat-bonded, so a panel can be recycled again at the end of its life. The same fibre also insulates thermally.

Recycled content is independently verified through GRS 4.0 (Global Recycled Standard, Intertek-audited). The panel is qualified for LEED v4.1, WELL v2.0 X07/X08 and GreenRate Level A. Zero VOCs. KARIKA is working toward carbon neutrality by 2035.

Working with us

How a project usually unfolds.

Three phases, four weeks. The earlier we join, the better the surface.

i.

Brief & sketch (week 1)

We sit with the project drawings and your acoustical target. No panel sizes yet — at this stage we're agreeing which surfaces in which rooms.

Deliverable: a written direction and a colour shortlist.

ii.

Drawing & sample (week 2)

Technical drawings and a BOQ go back to the studio, along with a sample box: physical swatches and one production-grade sample of the proposed panel.

iii.

Fabrication & install (weeks 3–4)

Production runs in our Bangalore facility. We attend the first day of installation; our team finishes the job.

Deliverable: a completed installation that matches the approved sample.

What we hold to

Four claims, in the order we use them.

i.

Twenty-two years at 79 JC Road.

Same address in Bangalore since 2003. Canvas Centre, Cosmo Floors, Gowell and KARIKA continue to operate side by side from the same building today.

ii.

The spec sheet does the talking.

NRC 1.00 with cavity. 75% post-consumer recycled PET, GRS 4.0 verified. Zero VOCs, zero chemical binders. Fire class B-s1, d0.

iii.

Ninety-four colours, one fibre.

The full library is Intertek-tested on the same 100% polyester felt. A wall, a ceiling and a screen in the same room can be made of the same material. Custom matches on request.

iv.

Everything is made to order.

Bespoke acoustics. Every panel is cut, pressed or printed to the drawings of a specific room. If you can draw it, we can usually make it. The earlier we join, the more the surface can shape the room rather than the other way around.
