Bespoke Ceilings · Clouds

Soft islands, hung over the room.

Polyester felt clouds, suspended above seating, meeting tables and reception zones. Single modules or clusters. Direct-fixed to the ceiling, or hung at any depth. Numbers, spacing, size, colour and suspension height drawn around the room. Light to install, sustainably made.

Product characteristics

Engineered to specify with confidence.

Twelve qualities that make KARIKA a reliable specification. Acoustically performant, materially honest, and quietly designed for the spaces architects build.

Twelve qualities, four themes
  1. Performance

What it does to sound, vibration and heat.

    • Acoustical

NRC up to 1.00. Cloud absorbs on both faces. The open ceiling becomes the cavity.

    • Buffered

Layered fibre dampens impact and structure-borne sound.

    • Insulation

Thermal insulator. Contributes to building energy performance.

  2. Composition

Materially honest. Recycled, fire-safe, zero off-gassing.

    • Recycled

75% post-consumer recycled PET. Fully recyclable at end of life.

    • Fire-Rated

Naturally fire-resistant. No chemical retardants required.

    • No VOC

Zero volatile organic compounds. Heat-bonded, no chemical binders.

  3. Surface

94 colours, accepts print, is tackable.

    • Decorative

94 colours. Cloud is large and visible. Treat the colour as part of the lighting plan.

    • Printable

Surface accepts direct digital print and custom graphic application.

    • Tackable

Holds pins. Doubles as a wall and a pinboard.

  4. Practicality

What a contractor needs to handle on site.

    • Light Weight

Even at full size, a cloud stays under typical load limits for 4-point cable suspension.

    • Easy Install

Aircraft-cable suspension with adjustable height, concealed anchors. 4 anchor points typical.

    • Ventilate

Open ceiling preserved at the edges. HVAC, sprinklers and services stay accessible.

For the drawing

Size and shape, drawn to the zone.

A cloud is a single suspended island, drawn to the seating, table or zone it sits over. Square, rectangular, ellipse, hex, or freeform. Outline follows the plan below.

Thickness25 / 50 mm
OutlineBespoke
Max single piece3000 × 1500 mm
Suspension4-point cable

Larger than the maximum-piece dimension is composed of multiple aligned panels with a shadow line between. Reads as one cloud at distance, two pieces up close. Thickness is set against the acoustic target; 50 mm for rooms that need bass-range absorption.

How it sounds

Both faces absorb.

A suspended cloud takes sound on both sides. The room above the cloud is the cavity. Thicker clouds at lower mounting heights pick up more low-frequency absorption. Headline figures track the same fibre as plain panel. The geometry is what changes.

Suspending the cloud lower (closer to seating) brings absorption closer to the sound source. Suspending higher gives a deeper cavity above and reaches further into the bass. Both can be the right answer. The room dictates which.

How it ages

An acoustic panel stays an acoustic panel.

Suspended fibre is dimensionally stable. Clouds do not droop, sag or curl. Colour is dyed into the fibre before it is spun. It does not fade under normal interior light, dust off, or shed.

Cleaning
Vacuum the bottom face with a soft-brush head. Suspended clouds collect less dust than a flat ceiling. Spot-clean with a damp cloth. No solvents.
Moisture
PET acoustic does not absorb water unless submerged. Wipe dry. Our acoustic clouds do not warp, mould or harbour bacteria.
UV
Direct sunlight fades any dyed material over time. KARIKA acoustic panel is rated for interior use only.
Allergens
None known. Hypoallergenic and low-VOC. Used in hospitals, schools and clinics.
Warranty
Two years against workmanship and manufacturing defects, including suspension hardware.
End of life
Fully recyclable. Cloud panels return to the PET fibre stream. Aluminium suspension hardware is recovered separately.
